HAIR
EXTENSIONS AFTERCARE
ADVICE
To
maintain your extensions in the best possible condition,
it is important that
you follow the advised procedures. Shampooing and conditioning
your hair at
least once a week with the recommended products and advice
1.
Use a soft bristled brush prior to washing.
Smooth out any tangles, holding the hair at the roots and brushing
from the ends first.
2. Use only a recommended product.
It is very important to know if you are adding moisture or protein.
Rinse the
hair from an upright position, massage the scalp but not
the extensions, squeeze out the shampoofrom roots to the
ends. You do not want any matting to occur.
3. Rinse thoroughly.
4. Apply the specified conditioner on the mid-lengths and ends
only and leave on for a few mins.
5. Rinse thoroughly, gently towel dry or squeeze . Careful not
to tangle any extensions in a wrapped up towel.
6. Spray a leave in conditioner throughout the mid lengths and
ends only.
7. Use your fingers to separate the extensions before drying.
This helps prevent any naturally falling hair from matting.
8. Using a hair dryer the bonds need to be dried first, also
make sure the underneath nape area is bone dry. The rest of the
hair can then be gently dried as usual.
9. Oil based products i.e.: serum should be avoided at all times
as they break the bonds down
and cause the extensions to shed Attend a regular check-up appointment
to maintain the condition of the extensions
General
Care
1. Always towel dry hair with a blotting motion never any vigorous
rubbing actions.
2. Any self hair colouring should be carried out at least two
weeks prior to new extensions being applied.
3. Electric curling tongs and curlers can be used with ease but on
Human hair only , the bonds should not fail if this
heat is directly applied to them, however they can soften or
distort slightly.
4. No high temperature equipment should be used that does not
have a thermostatic control.
5. Regularly brush hair from the points to the joints and then
from the roots to the points using a recommended brush ensuring
the extensions and your own hair is separated.
6. Always hold the hair whilst brushing to avoid tension on
the roots. Do not back comb from the roots.
7. Do not use any uncovered elastic bands. A Sauna is not reccomended.
8. Swimming of any kind should be avoided, if not the hair
should be tied up out of contact of the water or a swimming
hat used. After swimming wash and dry the hair immediately
as above.
